Paws in the Park

Saturday 20th May – Sunday 21st May 2023

Starting off with Paws in the Park, which takes place at the South Of England Showground in Ardingly, West Sussex, this is a fantastic event appropriate for all ages, as well as most importantly – our four-legged friends.

Over the weekend, there will be various show rings where you can enter your dog. Categories include both pedigrees and crossbreeds, as well as pups from six – 24 months.

There will also be plenty of attractions including agility displays, K9 stunt shows, search and rescue, gun dog demonstrations and much more. Your dog can take part too, including “have a go” agility, Canicross, flyball and a Gun Dog scurry session.

As up to 30,000 visitors are expected, there will be plenty of trade stands around the show complex. You can even pitch a tent and stay the night too! Let’s hope your dog isn’t a loud snorer…

Goodwoof

Saturday 20th May – Sunday 21st May 2023

In 2023 Goodwoof will be in its second year. Described as the “ultimate dog’s day out”, this two-day event will take place in the grounds of the world-famous Goodwood. To be exact, the event will be set up outside of the Goodwood Estate’s Kennels.

From doggie yoga to paw reading, a splash pool, have-a-go sessions and demonstrations – we can clearly see why Goodwood is proudly described as the ultimate dog’s day out.

As the event grows, we can expect it to become as big and popular as Goodwood’s other world-class events including the Festival of Speed and Glorious Goodwood!

South of England Show

Friday 10th June – Sunday 12th June 2023

One of the most popular country events in the Sussex calendar, the South of England Show, located in Ardingly, West Sussex is the perfect day out to bring along your dog.

Similarly to Hickstead, this isn’t a specific dog event, but pooches are welcome! There will be a whole host of live entertainment – from equestrian displays to motorcross, livestock competitions and cookery workshops!

The South of England Show can get pretty noisy, so if your dog isn’t a fan of loud noises, this event may not be what you’re looking for.

Find the full schedule on the South of England Show website.

International Horse Show at Hickstead

25th – 30th July

The International Horse Show takes place every year, within the grounds of Hickstead. This specific event is designed for horse lovers, however, dogs are very much welcome!

There will be many dog-friendly stalls dotted around the grounds selling everything you need for your four-legged friends.

Brighton Pride Dog Show

2023 date TBC

Brighton Pride takes place the first week of August. If you’re going to Pride and have a four-legged friend, why not enter them into the Brighton Pride Dog Show, which takes place at Preston Park.

The highly popular dog-friendly event features a variety of showing categories and will be judged by industry professionals.

Find out more about the Brighton Pride Dog Show on their official website. The date for this year’s Brighton Pride Dog Show is currently TBC.

Saltdean Lido Dog Swim

2023 dates TBC

If you’re looking for a dog friendly day out near Brighton, the Saltdean Lido Dog swim is a must on a sunny day! However, dates for this year’s Saltdean Lido Dog Swim are currently TBC, but the various dog friendly open days usually take place in September, to mark the end of the summer season.

Saltdean Lido is located just on the edge of Brighton, directly opposite Saltdean Beach, which is located east of Brighton Marina. If you can’t wait that long, there are plenty of specific dog swimming pools in Sussex, the closest to Saltdean we’d recommend is Dog Splash in Pevensey, East Sussex.
